O.k.......Here's the story as short
as possible. I bought this four door '79 Malibu for $350....I swore I wouldn't ever
"waste my time" painting this old beater. It had 153,000 miles and there was
"no way" it would last more than six more months. I added some Camaro rallye
wheels and some spray painted racing stripes just for kicks, But that is ALL I'm doing..I
swear.

Well......I had the week off of work,
was bored, and had black paint just sitting there. After fixing alot of ping, dings,
dents, and rust, and removing the vinyl top and trim....she got a fresh coat of black
paint with some silver/gray racing stripes we made up out of 3 leftover cans of silvery
colors. It doesn't look the greatest, but it doesn't matter, right?? Who cares?
And what's with the snap-on sticker? Odd how tastes change. I would NEVER do
that today!

Well, I DO!! I'm a painter....I can't
drive around in sub-par work! Besides, I saw this great Corvette with blue pearl paint,
white racing stripes, black rims, and these two little "hash marks" in bright
red on the left side of the bonnet. Sooo, being bored again and the race team being in
Australia, I went forth with "operation corvette mock-up". It looked really
cool, but the new clear I used began to die quickly. Only one thing to do....

Enough was enough. No more shoddy work. Despite only two total days on this project, it was finally done right. I did it up in an awesome bright Indian Silver with black window posts, lower doors, and of course....racing stripes! This car got great compliments for a car with four doors and nearly 200,000 miles. After three years , four different paint jobs, and almost 40,000 miles, I sold it to get the money to buy my Falcon.....my first true love, automotively speaking! My only regret.....not keeping it to turn to 200,000 miles, which it was about 900 miles from doing.
